Bill Holohan has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Irish Maritime Law Association since 1985. Some years ago he was elected as Secretary of the Irish Maritime Law Association and he has contributed regularly to the work of the Irish Maritime Law Association whose views on Maritime and Shipping matters are regularly sought by the Department of the Marine in particular.

As a member of the Executive Committee, and as Secretary to the Irish Maritime Law Association, Bill Holohan attended conferences of the Comite Maritime Internationale, including conferences in Paris in 1990 and Antwerp in 1996.

Also, the Association contributes to the work of the Comite Maritime International whose conferences in the past have led to the adoption of International Conventions including Conventions in relation to liability for oil pollution, limitation of liability, the Hague and the Hague Visby Rules on the transport and carriage of goods etc.
