Maritime law is concerned with the sea, shipping and with seafarers, be they shippers, passengers or cargo owners. Our Principal, Bill Holohan, is a member of The Executive Committee of the Irish Maritime Law Association, and acted as Honourary Secretary to that body for a number of years. The Irish Maritime Law Association is a body representing the interests of those involved in the shipping industry. The Association's website is at www.irishmaritimelaw.com.
The Association is often consulted by the Irish Government Department of the Marine and Natural Resources and its advice sought on maritime matters. The firm regularly deals with such matters on behalf of clients.

Bill Holohan studied the area of Admiralty / Maritime Law while at U.C.C. and submitted a thesis on the subject for which he was conferred with an honours LL.B. degree.

Subsequently, he gained extensive practical experience in the area, in time becoming the Secretary to the Irish Maritime Law Association and in 1997 was elected a Titulary Member of the Comite Maritime Internationale at its Centenary Congress in Antwerp.

Also, as a Notary Public, our Principal Bill Holohan is consulted regularly in relation to maritime / commercial matters and documentation. He is also one of the few Irish people to be honoured by becoming a Titulary Member of the Comite Maritime Internationale.

His unique insight, expertise and knowledge, both as a lawyer and as a Notary Public, benefits clients who have need of his advice and assistance. He has also written a large numbers of papers on maritime subjects, a list of which can be seen on our Publications page.
