The Irish Attorney General's Office have published the Acts of the
Oirechtas (Acts of Parliament) from 1922 to 2001 on CD-ROM as part
of a major initiative to make available all Irish legislative materials
(both secondary and primary) in electronic format.
The CD ROM, which retails at a remarkable €35.00, is fully networkable and contains the text of all Acts as published in the period 1992 to 2001. This includes Acts to amend
the Constitution, Public General Acts and Private Acts. The database
is supplied in folio views 4.11 format and is fully searchable.
The Acts are expandable by decade and year. Within each Act, hypertext
links provide access to other acts which are referred to and to
other sections of the Act being viewed. Each Act can be printed
in full, as an individual Part or Section or a selected text. Text
can also be copied and be pasted into other applications. Also included are all statutory instruments, regulations and orders from 1922 onward, together with the chronological table of the Acts for the same period.

This vast full text database operated by Reed Elsevier and situated

Unite Kingdom. In the Irish Context the system provides access to
the Irish reports from 1950; Irish Law Reports Monthly from1980;
and selected unreported judgements from July 1985. NEXIS contains
the full text of various newspapers; journals and transcripts organised
into subject libraries. There is a cost imposed for this service.
LEXIS NEXIS, because of its size and potential for retrieving irrelevant
data, is a difficult database to use efficiently on a regular basis.
A precise and correctly syntaxed search must be formulated before
logging on to the system.
