One
of the many areas of expertise for which the firm is known is in
the area of Licensing. In 1991 our Principal Bill Holohan took a
case to the High Court on behalf of one of Ireland's premier entertainment
venues, the Point Depot, arguing that a public entertainment venue
is entitled to a licence to serve intoxicating liquor. It had been
accepted for over one hundred years that it could not, but Bill
Holohan's arguments were accepted by the High Court.

The
firm acts for a wide variety of businesses applying for liquor licenses
and handles general commercial matters for a number of entertainment
venues. As a result the firm is recognised as one of the leading
firms in Ireland in this area of the law.
Bill Holohan also acts as Company Secretary for the Point Depot group of companies, The Point Depot being one of the leading entertainment venues in the country.

In
1998 he appeared before the Supreme Court on behalf of The Tivoli
Theatre arguing a case as to what constituted public entertainment
for such purposes and again, he won!
In the case, he also persuaded the Supreme Court that in a licensed place of public entertainment, a seat does not mean something one sits on, but rather the space one occupies while within the premises!
